Some early Galaxy S10 users have already encountered problems with the fingerprint scanning function, with failures registering when completing mobile payments that require some form of authentication. Samsung has heard the complaints and plans on fixing some of the reported issues via software updates. “There can be many occasions where users find the fingerprint scanner doesn’t work well, for example, when you are in a dry environment, or when your finger skin is really dry, or when you have a scratch on your fingerprint,” a Samsung official said. “The accuracy has been improved through the first update of software recently just in one week since the launch, and we will continue providing updates to make the scanner work better.”

The global market for refurbished smartphones slowed to 1% year-over-year growth in 2018, reaching close to 140 million units, according to the latest research from Counterpoint’s Refurbished Smartphone Tracker. The secondary industry was affected by the 11% drop in new smartphone sales in key supply countries such as China and United States leading to a decline in the availability of used devices. However, this drop was partially offset by improvements in secondary market’s ecosystem of collection, grading, repairing and online/offline selling.

Apple has quietly announced two new iPad models, the third generation 10.5-inch iPad Air and the fifth generation 7.9-inch iPad mini. Meanwhile, the smaller iPad mini has a 7.9-inch 4:3 display with a resolution of 2048x1536px and at 326PPI. Both tablets support True Tone and wide color. The iPad Air starts at $499/£479/€549 while the iPad mini starts at $399/£399/€449. Both are available in silver, space gray, and gold.
